Join us for a free one-day conference sponsored by Heartland Recovery, designed to equip pastors, recovery leaders, counselors, and volunteers with practical tools to help their churches identify, support, and welcome individuals impacted by addiction and incarceration—so they can find healing through Christ.

Session speakers have many years of experience working in various aspects of addiction recovery and incarceration.

Walking Through Recovery | Tucker’s Story

Keokuk, Iowa native Tucker shares his powerful journey from the depths of addiction to finding true healing and purpose. After high school partying led to a emergency hospital stay and a near-fatal overdose, Tucker chose Heartland Recovery to completely turn his life around. It was here, rooted in a Christian-based environment, that he found the strength to let go of a long-held grudge and pray for his father. “The day that I forgave my father… really truly it shined a light in my life,” Tucker shares. Just two weeks later, that forgiveness was put to the test when he learned his father was on life support.

Today, Tucker walks with an undeniable sense of peace and a deeply restored relationship with his family, who continue to support him every step of the way. His story is a beautiful reminder that no matter how dark things get, a fresh start is always possible. As Tucker puts it, “For anyone struggling with addiction or going through any troubles in their life right now… if you have breath in your lungs there’s always hope.”

Right now, there are men applying to the Heartland men’s program, ready to take the next step in their recovery, and we’re almost ready for them. We are nearly at capacity, which is a testament to the trust people have placed in this work.

To open more bedrooms and welcome more men, we need to finish furnishing those rooms. Thanks to a special partnership with Brown’s Furniture, we can purchase the dressers we need for just $1,200 each. That’s a dresser, a room, and a real chance at a new beginning for a man who needs it.

It might seem like a small thing—a place to put a few folded shirts, some personal belongings, a little piece of dignity. But for someone rebuilding their life from the ground up, having a space that is truly theirs makes all the difference in the world.

Walking Through Recovery | Eric’s Story

After high school Eric embraced the “party lifestyle.” Drinking and chasing pleasure were what life was about. Years later warning signs began to appear in his life as alcohol slowly took control. He stopped eating altogether, choosing alcohol over food. His friends noticed, one of them a Heartland alumnus encouraged him to seek help at Heartland. When Eric arrived, he experienced something unexpected — genuine love and a clear challenge to examine his walk with Christ. “I knew who Jesus Christ was and I thought I was a follower, but actually I believe I was just a fan,” he said, describing the moment his faith became real.

Today, Eric credits Jesus as the foundation of his transformation. “I rely on Him… He’s changed my life,” he shares. Through Heartland, he’s learned what true relationships look like — putting others first, serving instead of being served, and building a community grounded in accountability and love.
